Adair Park: Sprague's Sports acts as the information contact for this private 660 acre park located 16 miles NE of Yuma on Highway 95. 3/4 of a mile East of McPhaul's Bridge. Rifle, pistol and archery ranges are the centerpoints of the facility. Adair Ranges, Inc. is a private, nonprofit corporation, comprised of the Yuma Area Shooting and Recreation Clubs, who operate and maintain these ranges for all to safely enjoy. |

Cibola National Wildlife Refuge: While access is limited to certain areas, the visitor center, 3-mile auto tour loop, and the 1-mile nature trail are among the areas that can be visited.
Visitors accessing the shores of the refuge via boat will find miles of back channels that are ideal for fishing and birdwatching. |

Dome Valley Raceway: This venue is a favorite for sand drag enthusiasts. Dome Valley Raceway 1300 foot racetrack is equipped with professional racing Christmas tree and laser markers. Full restroom facilities and concession stands are on site! |

El Golfo: El Golfo in Sonora Mexico is just a short 60 miles south of Yuma. Continuing on for 30 miles of mostly pristine beaches, El Golfo offers a sea side vacation that should not be missed. Make sure that your auto insurance has coverage in Mexico or buy a rider for your trip. For safety sake, consider traveling with a group of like minded people.

Historic Downtown Yuma: Historic Downtown Yuma is often overlooked by Yuma visitors and residents. A morning or afternoon can be pleasurably spent exploring the many shops & dining options offered in the area. This area is used for street fairs and musical events throughout the year. Located in the area surrounding First Street and Main Avenue Historic Downtown Yuma is with walking distance of several Yuma area Attractions. Historic Downtown Yuma is now open to vehicular traffic but is best experienced by parking the car and enjoying a leisurely stroll. There are many surprises to be found in the courtyards and patios along main street.

Imperial National Wildlife Refuge: The Imperial National Wildlife Refuge contains 25,768 acres of protected wildlands including more than 15,000 acres that are designated as wilderness area. A visitor center and multiple look out points are found here. The Painted Desert Trail is a 1.3 mile self guided trail that features a panoramic view of the Colorado River valley.
Boaters will find that some of the waters of the I.N.W.R. are restricted against waterskiing. These waters are popular with the fishing crowd as there is less traffic.

Imperial Sand Dunes Recreational Area: The Imperial Sand Dunes, also known as the Algodones Dunes, are the largest sand dunes in California. 40 miles long and averaging 5 miles wide, the dunes are popular with many off road enthusiasts. With heights of over 300 feet from the desert floor the dunes are an impressive site located just 20 miles East of Yuma. The large crowds of off-road recreational seekers camped at the Dunes often causes travelers on the Interstate to mistake the parking areas for a small town.

Kofa National Wildlife Refuge: The 665,400 acres of desert that make up the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge are home to big horn sheep and the only truely native Arizonan palm tree, oddly named the California Fan Palm. |

Los Algodones: Los Algodones, B.C. Mexico is a scant 10 mile drive from Yuma. The official name is Vicente Guerrero. Los Algodones offers a variety of local merchants and restaurants to choose from to enhance your Mexican adventure. The residents and visitors of Yuma also find that the health care providers offer an affordable alternative to the high costs seen for health care on the U.S. side of the border. The parking lots on the U.S. side of the border in Andrade California allow visitors to walk in to this town and return without the hassle of bringing your car back into the States.

Martinez Lake: Martinez Lake is a resort area located near the original townsite of Castle Dome Landing. There are two established resorts that offer marinas, cafes, campgrounds, and other amenities. Many houses are found on the shores of Fishers Lagoon and Martinez Lake. The Marine Corp maintains a recreational area there as well. The Imperial Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center is found nearby.
Anglers will find many opportunities for fishing at Martinez Lake. There are many Bass fishing tournaments held in the area each year. The lakes and backwaters offer the chance to get away from the crowds and drop a line in the water. The many private docks are perfect for kids to fish.

McPhaul Swinging Bridge: Located 18 miles North on Highway 95, the McPhaul "Swinging Bridge to Nowhere" is a Yuma oddity. Originally the Dome Bridge, the McPhaul Bridge was constructed by Yuma County and the State of Arizona in 1929. Built to allow users of the Yuma-to-Quartzite road (now Highway 95) to cross the Gila River, this suspension bridge, with a span of 798 feet, currently spans only desert sand and rocks after river was diverted in 1968. Although damaged in 1990 by fire, this bridge outlasted its replacement which was destroyed by the flood of 1993.

Mittry Lake Wildlife Area: Mittry Lake Wildlife Area is located between the Imperial and Laguna dams,and is jointly managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Offering 750 acres of water surface surrounded by 2400 acres of marsh and upland, Mittry Lake Wildlife Area is a prime bird watching area. Boating, Camping, Fishing, and Hunting opportunities also abound at this beautiful lake 15 miles NE of Yuma. Located at the south end of Mittry Lake, Betty's Kitchen Interpretive area is named after a 1930s cafe which stood on the shore of the lake. A scenic 1/2 mile trail describes the natural and human history of the Colorado River Corridor.
Directions (1): Take AZ Highway 95 to Avenue 7E, proceed north to end of the pavement. Mittry Lake begins approximately 1/2 mile past end of pavement.
Directions (2): Highway 95 north to East Imperial Dam Road, then turn left (west) toward the lake, following wildlife area signs.

Picacho State Recreation Area: Picacho State Recreation Area's eastern border includes eight miles of the Lower Colorado River. Picacho was a gold mining town with 100 resident souls back 100 years ago. This popular park offers a variety of flora and fuana, including beavertail cactus, wild burros, bighorn sheep and thousands of migratory waterfowl. The main campground, has 54 campsites, a group campground, and two boat-in group sites. The sites have picnic tables and fire rings with drinking water and chemical toilets located nearby as well as a solar shower. Up river there are five smaller campgrounds, but there is no drinking water at these locations. |

Tumco Historic Mining Town: Tumco is an abandoned gold mining town. This open area is managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). A few old buildings and some mine shafts are all that remain of the original mine and townsite.

Valley of the Names: An odd site is found in desert north of Yuma. For over 60 years people have been bringing in rocks in order to spell out their names and other messages in the desert. While best viewed from a low flying plane, the site is accessable via 4WD vehicles. Remember that many of these messages date back over 50 years and should not be disturbed. If you want to write your own message, BRING YOUR OWN ROCKS and leave alone the efforts of others. |

Yuma Art Center: The Yuma Art Center is operated by the City of Yuma Parks and Recreation Department. Featuring the 650 seat Historic Yuma Theatre, the Yuma Art Center has Four Visual Art Galleries as well as studios for local & visiting artists. |

Yuma Conservation Garden: This 28 acre site is set aside for a botanical garden featuring Sonoran desert vegetation, a watershed model, a pond for wild and domestic waterfowl, and a display of antique farm equipment. Open to the public most weekend during the winter months. Also a favorite for weekday field trips by educational groups. |

Yuma Quartermasters Depot State Historic Park: See the restored U.S. Army Quartermasters Depot!
Yuma Visitor Center, transportation museum, gift shop, & picnic area. Formerly Yuma Crossing State Historic Park. Recently adopted by the City of Yuma to avoid closing by the state, the Quartermasters Depot now has free admission and is the site of the Yuma Visitors Center.

The Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area is announcing a campaign to save the Yuma Territorial Prison. The prison is on the list of 13 state parks Arizona officials are closing in response to budget cuts enacted in 2009.
